Project Vision
Passionate about their classic, grand home, this family aimed to enhance its curb appeal with a new landscape to complement its architecture. Various grading issues had caused the existing paving stone driveway and walkway to sink and shift, while drowning land-locked plantings added to the design challenge.
design
The landscape design called for the removal of the existing driveway and walkway and a new exposed aggregate concrete driveway and walkway were poured, featuring sinuous traditional geometry that ensured positive drainage away from the house foundation. Adhering to municipal guidelines, a small backup space was incorporated at the end of the walkway for vehicles, enabling them to turn and drive forward onto the street, thereby reducing the need for yearly lawn repairs.

The integral colours in the exposed aggregate concrete tie into the existing square-cut flagstone mortared onto the front porch to create a harmonious flow.
New classic planting using layers of evergreens, deciduous shrubs, and massed perennials adds visual weight to ground the home in the landscape. The existing mature trees with low branching were retained to maintain the privacy screening at the front of the home.
